Big Weekend!

Hey Everyone! It's been a little busy since Jon and Deb's visit...but packed with much fun that I'm finally sitting down to blog about! Last weekend, UM played Penn State (we won't talk about the score so much!) HOWEVER-Mimi, Uncle John, and his buddy Tommy(a life long Wolverine Fan) came up for the game. We had a blast! Friday evening we went to The Prickly Pear. Saturday, we arrived at The Big House in full UM gear, tailgated and cheered hard for Michigan (in the wind and rain might I add). Sunday, Uncle John and Tommy headed back to OKC...but Mimi got to stay with us for a few extra days, HOORAY! She totally and completely spoiled us. Period. Sunday after church she treated us to a delicious lunch (The 3 of us plus a group of dear friends from church). I even got a birthday dessert :) Then Sunday night was Trunk or Treat at church...Ted went as a blind Ref and Mimi and I went in $5 JC Penny halloween t-shirts, ha! It was so much fun, and I think the kids all had a great time. I've posted a picture of our two favorites, Amelia and Andrew :) We love them!! Monday and Tuesday we played and shopped, and today I had to take Mimi back to the airport. Thank you for coming up to visit us...we love you SO much and we can't wait for you to come again!

Jon & Deb's Visit to Ann Arbor

Wednesday night, my parents came up for a visit (YAY!) We started the trip off with dinner downtown at The Blue Tractor for some good old bbq. We went shopping at the mall as well as downtown AA for some Michigan gear, stopped by the Cider Mill for some cider and donuts, checked out Michigan Madness (Basketball Kickoff) on Friday night, went to the Football game on Saturday (we absolutely destroyed Delaware State) came home and ate chili while trying to stay awake to watch the Yankees and the OSU Cowboys...needless to say we all fell asleep! Got up this morning, went to breakfast at The Broken Egg, and took mom and dad back to the airport. It was a perfect weekend and we couldn't love our company more...thanks again for everything!!!

Big House Big Heart...My first 5K

This morning I ran my first 5K (my first race of any kind for that matter!) with my dear friend Rachel. The event was called Big House Big Heart and it is a great fundraiser which helps the UM program for Neurology, Mott Children's Hospital and the UM Cardiovascular Center. It's estimated that there were 10,000 participants! There was a 10K, 5K, and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk. We started on the north end of the stadium, ran through campus, and the coolest part was running down the tunnel and finishing on the 50 yard line of the Big House (I now know what a running back feels like...sort of!) Here is a picture of Rachel and me before our run (yes, we're freezing!) :)

A Fall Treat

I saw this recipe in a magazine and after drooling over the picture of the finished product, decided this needed to be shared with others :) I haven't made it yet, but have full confidence that it will be delicious!

TURTLE PUMPKIN PIE

1/4 cup plus 2tbsp caramel sauce
1 (6oz) pie crust (honey maid)
1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp chopped pecans
2 pkg(3.4 oz each)Jell-O Vanilla flavored instant pudding
1 cup cold milk
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tub (8oz) Cool Whip, thawed

POUR 1/4 cup caramel into crust, sprinkle with 1/2 cup nuts. BEAT pudding mixes, milk, pumpkin and spices with whisk until blended. Stir in 1 1/2 cups Cool Whip. Spoon into Crust. REFRIGERATE 1 hour. Top with remaining cool whip, caramel topping and nuts just before serving...enjoy!
